New Construction of Rennbahnpark, Frankfurt am Main

In Frankfurt am Main, a former racecourse with an adjacent/internal golf course was transformed into a 14-hectare park. Recreational and leisure facilities were combined with the preservation and development of ecologically valuable areas to create an urban nature experience.

For this project, we supplied sandstone blocks from the regional Neckartäler Hartsandstein rot and Neckartäler Hartsandstein rot-weiß as solid seating elements, habitat elements and boundary stones in various lengths of up to 2 metres. In addition, the same sandstone was used to produce undulating seating stones and block steps.

The seating elements and block steps have shot-peened visible surfaces with bevelled edges. Depending on their purpose and location, some of the other surfaces are sawn and some are drilled and split.

The racecourse park was awarded the Hessian State Prize for Building Culture 2022/2023.
