Natural stone façadesGalerie Bastian, Berlin

New Construction Galerie Bastian, Berlin

A new gallery building for Galerie Bastian has been constructed in Berlin Dahlem at Taylorstraße 1 according to the plans of architect John Pawson. The architecture of the single-storey, minimalist pavilion, with its focus on the essentials, gives the exhibited art alone a space without distracting from it.

For the cuboid-shaped new building, Steigerwald Quarzit was used as a stone masonry with a recessed parapet strip. The individual, large-format masonry stones have a thickness of approximately 10 cm. The elastic, sanded joints are 3 mm wide.

A total of approx. 330 m² of façade surface was realised with Steigerwald Quarzit in this project.
