That this pink-violet sandstone is particularly valued for use in natural stonework is due above all to its proven, frost-resistant quality and its distinctive colour and texture. Its pink and violet banding gives buildings or façades a stunning appearance.

It is a popular choice for both interior and exterior applications owing to its good physical and technical properties. Its tested and certified resistance to weathering is another significant plus.

The quarry has been in operation for several centuries now, and it is one of the most productive quarries for pink-violet medium-grained sandstone today. This “Herzogsteiner Sandstein” is a highly sustainable building material.
